Once you have considered your family and friends in your Will, a legacy gift is a lasting way of helping to protect the historic churches of Warwickshire for the future.

It is thanks to the hard work and generosity of previous generations that we’re able to enjoy the wonderful church buildings around Warwickshire. Leaving a legacy to Warwickshire and Coventry Historic Churches Trust will help that work continue so that future generations can enjoy them too.

To leave a legacy, you need to update your will with clear instructions. We suggest contacting your solicitor, who will also be able to advise you about the tax advantages of leaving a charitable legacy, which could reduce your Inheritance Tax liability.

We are often asked about different types of legacy, as there are a number of alternatives you may wish to consider:

Pecuniary Legacy

This allows you to specify a sum of money to give.

Specific Legacy

This enables you to leave a specific asset such as property, works of art and shares.

Residuary Legacy

This is a gift of all or part of your estate after other legacies and expenses have been paid.

Reversionary Legacy

This allows you to leave assets to the Warwickshire and Coventry Historic Churches Trust whilst giving a named person the benefit of them during his or her lifetime.

The Warwickshire and Coventry Historic Churches Trust is a registered charity. Any legacy gift you make to the Trust in your will is therefore exempt from inheritance tax and may provide other tax benefits.
Anyone can leave a legacy gift to Warwickshire and Coventry Historic Churches Trust and we would be happy to give you more information or discuss your wishes with you in more detail.
